Alfa Romeo-6 C 2500 SS Superjewel 1950 by Ghia

The unique construction of 6 C 2500 SS with Gilco chassis of the total of four Alfa Romeo Ghia Supergioiello. While the other three had pre-war standard Alfa Romeo, this car was ordered by Sirca, the company that represented Ghia in Lombardy, with the participation of the famous Milan designer Gilberto Colombo (Gilco) who was already working for Ferrari and he was already a master of aerodynamics and lightness. This Supergioiello has a unique design formula for the front, where the grille is also different from any other 6 C 2500 SS. On the front the air inputs are thin, we can also distinguish intense arches of the wheels from side perspective and is also decorated with triple air input and hidden door handles, superjewelry as well as its name!

It has been documented a long time ago that the car was built to give Fangio as a gift.

In the late 1950 s the car had arrived in England, where it was discovered decades later and specifically in the early 1990 s in bad condition. From 1995 to 1998, an exhaustive restoration followed, about 5.800 hours of work to return the car to its old glory in which he remains to this day.

I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them. Congratulations on an excellent website.
