The rare and expensive Talbot Lago T26 Grand Sport was built for either racing or luxury and was derived directly from Talbot's successful T26C Grand Prix car. The GS replaced the Lago-Record chassis which was named for its remarkable top speed. Having a 4.5 liter inline-6 aluminum cylinder head and triple carburetor fuel feed from the T26 the Grand Prix cars, the GS was one of the world's most powerful production cars. It produced 190 bhp which was good for around 125 mph depending on the body that was fitted. Chassis details were similar to the Grand Prix cars, but it was longer and wider. It came in two wheelbase lengths: 104 and 110 inches.

All Talbots used a body-on-frame design and had a strong enough chassis to receive a body from any coachbuilder the customer chose. No two cars were alike in the series of 36, and some became the most beautiful expressions of automotive art.

This Saoutchik Coupe (#110151) was built on the shorter 104 inch wheelbase chassis. Compared to some of the Saoutchik designs of this era, this car is rather modest. There is only slight use of chrome. Featuring the pontoon style with the tapered teardrop style, its lines are fairly traditional. The hood is virtually longer than the rest of the body.

The car was painted two-tone blue and fitted with bumpers and blue coated wheels, but the body is now metallic grey, the bumpers are removed and the wheels have been chromed.

I am not a natural flatterer, I like to think that I "tell it like it is", politely I hope. So when I tell you that I am very impressed by the contents of your website, it is just not English politeness. I of course love the subject matter but you deal with it in an energetic and respectful manner. I am overwhelmed by the research that has gone into compiling the list of coachbuilders/bodybuilders for Europe and North America. I have never heard of the vast majority of them. Congratulations on an excellent website.
